By views or by followers?
By views divides likes, comments, shares and saves by the video’s views. It answers “of the people who watched, how many reacted?”, and it’s the figure most TikTok tools quote, because TikTok shows videos to people who don’t follow you.
By followers uses the same interactions divided by your follower count. It’s handy for comparing with Instagram, but it can exceed 100% when a video travels far beyond your followers.
Example: a Darwin food truck’s video with 5,200 views, 240 likes, 12 comments, 8 shares and 15 saves has 275 interactions. By views that’s 275 ÷ 5,200 × 100 = 5.29%. With 1,800 followers, it’s 15.28% by followers.
Where the numbers are
- Views, likes, comments and shares show on every video; saves show on many.
- For an account-wide figure, average your last eight to ten videos rather than picking the best.
- The fill-in box fetches followers and a rough likes-per-video (total likes ÷ videos). Profiles don’t show views per video, so add those yourself.
What moves it
The opening seconds matter most: if people swipe early, few react. Replying to comments, giving people a reason to share and asking a question in the caption all help. A likes package raises the like count on one video without adding views, so the rate by views goes up; keep it in proportion so the numbers still look natural.
