The best time to post on TikTok in Australia

Timing helps a TikTok video get going, but the For You feed keeps testing videos long after you post. Here is how to choose a time without overthinking it.

Short answer

Early evening (6–10pm) in your audience’s time zone is a good default, with lunchtime as a second option. TikTok Analytics shows when your followers are active; check which time zone the chart is using before you act on it.

Why timing matters less on TikTok

On TikTok, a new video is shown to a small group of viewers first, followers and non-followers alike, and its reach grows if they watch and react. That testing can carry on for days. So the hour you post shapes the first wave of viewers, not the whole life of the video. It’s still worth getting right, because a strong first wave gets the video into bigger tests sooner.

Good default windows

  • 6–10pm: the main evening scroll, on the couch or in bed.
  • 12–2pm: lunch breaks, especially on weekdays.
  • 7–9am: a smaller window, often better on weekdays than weekends.

If your audience is students, later evenings often work; for parents, the hour after the kids are in bed. Think about who watches, then test.

Reading TikTok’s analytics

  1. Use a business or creator account, which gives you Analytics in the app or in TikTok Studio.
  2. Find the followers section and the chart of follower activity by hour and by day.
  3. Check the time zone printed on the chart. Some analytics views have shown times in UTC rather than local time; if so, add 10 hours for AEST, 11 for AEDT, or 8 for Perth.
  4. Post shortly before the peak hours, then compare views after 24 and 72 hours over a few weeks.

National audiences

As with Instagram, the east coast usually wins a straight vote, because that’s where most Australians live. During daylight saving, 8pm in Melbourne is 7pm in Brisbane and 5pm in Perth. Use the time zone planner to see your chosen time in every state.

What matters more than timing

  • The first second. Start with the payoff, not a hello.
  • Watch time. Short and tight beats long and loose, unless people stay.
  • Consistency. Several videos a week tells you far more about timing than one a fortnight.

FAQ

Common questions

Is there a best day to post on TikTok in Australia?
Not one that holds for every account. Many see steady results midweek, and weekends can be strong for entertainment content. Test it.
Should I delete and repost a video that flopped?
Usually no. It looks like repeated content, and videos sometimes pick up later. Try a new version with a stronger opening instead.
How many times a day should I post?
As often as you can keep quality up. For most small accounts, three to five videos a week is plenty.
